I’m a big fan of Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipsticks – I’ve tried & like the cremes, the mattes, and the shine formulas. All my Super Lustrous lipstick reviews are here. So, when I saw this Gucci Westman Spring 2014 display, my eyes went right to the lipsticks, and I was not disappointed. The four available shades are Brazilian Tan (brown/nude, creme finish), Ipanema Beach (appears to be a light ivory, pearl finish), Sultry Samba (hot pink, matte finish) and Carnival Spirit (orange, shine finish).
I bought Sultry Samba & Carnival Spirit. Sultry Samba is a gorgeous color, but it’s a bit sheer. The arm swatch is three layers, and for the lip swatch I applied, blotted, then applied again. There are better formulas in similar colors out there, so I don’t recommend this one.
Carnival Spirit is sheer, glossy orange. I can see some fine shimmer in the arm swatch photo, but I didn’t notice it in person. The arm swatch is about three layers here as well, but the sheerness works very well with the finish on this one; the end effect is lovely. It’s very wearable – a good choice if you like orange, but aren’t ready to go for the bright true oranges. Definitely recommended!
As far as I know, these shades are limited edition; but I’d be happy to be wrong about that!
