Dior has recently released a new product, the Dior Addict Fluid Sticks (is it just me or is that a really terrible name?). They’re advertised having “the high-impact colour and long wear of a lipstick, combined with the shine of a gloss.” Texturewise, they remind me of the Maybelline Color Elixirs (reviewed) and L’oreal Extraordinares (reviewed), which are both supposed to be gloss-balm-liquid lipstick hybrid. The packaging of the Fluid Sticks is somewhat reminiscent of the Maybellines as well; both have a lipstick-shaped cavity for the product, and if you weren’t paying attention, you might mistake the product for a traditional lipstick with a clear lid. One of my all-time favorite lipstick formulas is Dior’s Addict Extreme. Black Tie (previously reviewed) is currently my most frequently used lipstick! Dior just released a few new Addict Extreme shades as part of its Mystics Metallics collection, and I headed over to Nordstrom yesterday to check them them out (one of the shades is a Nordstrom exclusive).
I used to only wear opaque lipsticks, and mostly mattes at that. I’ve gradually grown to love sheer lipsticks too, but I still prefer sheer lipsticks with a noticeable amount of pigment. I love the juicy, translucent finish of a good sheer lipstick, but I don’t want it to verge on transparent. Dior’s Addict Lipsticks never appealed to me, because they are just too close to clear for my tastes (especially for the price). But the Addict Extremes? I’ve been interested in them since they were released, and I finally decided to purchase one (and now I seem to have acquired another – but that’s for another post).
