I’m a big fan of Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipsticks – I’ve tried & like the cremes, the mattes, and the shine formulas. All my Super Lustrous lipstick reviews are here. So, when I saw this Gucci Westman Spring 2014 display, my eyes went right to the lipsticks, and I was not disappointed. The four available shades are Brazilian Tan (brown/nude, creme finish), Ipanema Beach (appears to be a light ivory, pearl finish), Sultry Samba (hot pink, matte finish) and Carnival Spirit (orange, shine finish). Revlon recently rereleased five “vintage” discontinued shades from the Super Lustrous lipstick line. The rereleased shades are (sadly!) limited edition this time around. I really like the Super Lustrous lipsticks – they are creamy, comfortable to wear, and have no scent. Note that the creme finish Super Lustrous lipsticks are different from the previously reviewed Super Lustrous Shine lipsticks (there are also shimmer/frost finish & matte finish Super Lustrous lipsticks – I don’t own any of the shimmers, but the mattes are great).
The five rereleased shades are, as you see above, Icy Violet, Snow Peach, Sandstorm, Fifth Ave Red, and Jungle Peach. I found a full display, but only one of the shades called to me – Fifth Ave Red. And it is a fantastic red! The color is gorgeous, a deep true red – and the formula is as good as I expect the Super Lustrous lipsticks to be.
The lip swatch above is more color-accurate than the partial face picture below.
Did you pick up any of the rereleased / vintage shades?
Revlon has done a few collaborations with Marchesa over the past few months. In Fall 2013, they released a limited edition collection of nail appliques. They’re no longer available (unless you find them in a less-trafficked drugstore), but you can see all the designs on the Revlon website here.
Next, they released a collection of Marchesa – patterned beauty tools – a compact mirror, nail implements and files, brushes, and tweezers. The Revlon website says that these are limited edition, but at the moment some items are available to purchase on Ulta.com and drugstore.com. I’ve also seen them around at a couple CVS stores. Earlier, I posted about the new Revlon display I found with Color & Shine Super Lustrous Lipsticks – a new formula. I said I had purchased three of the lipsticks; but I liked them so much that after swatching, I went back and bought three more! (Revlon is 40% off at Rite Aid this week, which helps.)
Today at Rite Aid I spotted a display with a new formula of Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and new packaging for Revlon Super Lustrous lipglosses (formerly in rectangular packaging), and new shades of both! Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipstick previously came in creme, pearl, and matte finishes. All 10 of the new lipsticks have a “Shine” finish, as labeled on the botton of the tube, and none appear to have shimmer (the lipstick lids have a clear top – they are thankfully shrinkwrapped!).
The new lipstick shades are, top to bottom on the display:
– Rich Girl Red
– Pink Cognito
– Berry Couture
– Fuchsia Shock
– Kissable Pink
– Honey Bare
– Pink Cloud
– Lovers Coral
– Plum Velour
– Terra Copper.
I didn’t get the names of the lipglosses. About half of of them have no shimmer, and about half have a glass fleck finish. I didn’t get the name of this one (sorry!), but here’s a photo of a glass-fleck-finish one.
I purchased three of the lipsticks and one lipgloss, and I’ll be reviewing them soon!
