I’m a big fan of Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipsticks – I’ve tried & like the cremes, the mattes, and the shine formulas. All my Super Lustrous lipstick reviews are here. So, when I saw this Gucci Westman Spring 2014 display, my eyes went right to the lipsticks, and I was not disappointed. The four available shades are Brazilian Tan (brown/nude, creme finish), Ipanema Beach (appears to be a light ivory, pearl finish), Sultry Samba (hot pink, matte finish) and Carnival Spirit (orange, shine finish). Stila recently released four After Glow lip color jumbo pencils; they’re neon by day, and glow under blacklight (I don’t own a blacklight to verify this, which is why this isn’t a full review).
Electric Pink is an eye-searingly bright pink. To my eyes (and on my monitor), this swatch is relatively color-accurate. It’s that bright!
Here it is on my lips; note that the product is meant to leave a long-lasting stain, and it does.
I don’t usually wear pinks on my lips, but when I do, I want them to be seriously bright, and this shade definitely fits the bill! However, I found that it clung to any dry patches on my lips – your lips need to be in really excellent condition for this to look good.

I’ve heard some good things about Maybelline’s new line of lipsticks, the Colorsensational Vivids, so I thought it was time to try them out for myself! I was especially intrigued by Brazen Berry, as it looks quite purple in the tube, and I was curious as to how it would swatch.
First – the packaging. I am not a fan; the clear red tubes look okay, but they obscure the lipstick’s color, and they are not sealed, which makes it oh-so-tempting to just open them up and see what the lipstick actually looks like (which I did; I actually always open unsealed lipsticks to make sure they haven’t been tested). But, I’d rather a clear top & a sealed lipstick!
I purchased two shades – Hot Plum and Brazen Berry, as swatched above. Both are smooth, creamy and feel moisturizing. They do seem to emphasize dry or flaky lips – when I first applied a swatch, it did not look good – I exfoliated, reapplied, and all was well.
Have you tried the Maybelline Vivids? How did you like them?
