eyeliner overload!

I’ve done black eyeliner swatches before, and even did a post with a wear test way back when my blog was new, but I have different eyeliners now and I wanted to see how they compared.

Instead of trying to keep track of which swatch was which, I wrote an abbreviation for the brand on my arm. The follow table has the abbreviation, name of the eyeliner, and type of eyeliner. Continue reading

Eyebrow Product Comparison

brow productsThis is a quick post to compare how the three main eyebrow products I use look applied:

  • Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Brunette, reviewed/swatched here
  • Browlash Water Strong W Eyebrow Pen, reviewed/swatched here
  • Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow, reviewed/swatched here

And the comparisons:

No eyebrow product

I have relatively full brows, but prefer a more defined look than I have naturally.

anastasia brow powder duo - applied

Anastasia powder

The powder is quickest and easiest to apply. It gives the softest look.

Browlash pen (pen side only)

I love everything about the Browlast pen – the color is perfect (a very cool grey-brown), and I love the defined, but natural, look it gives. It’s also the longest-lasting of the products.

MUFE Aqua Brow

Aqua Brow is a really nice product, but since I chose a dark shade it’s a bit tricky to apply (a lighter shade would have been more user-friendly).  I’m getting more comfortable with it, though!

What type of product do you use on your brows – pen, pencil, powder, cream, or another type?

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo Swatches & Review

One of my favorite eyebrow products is Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo, which retails for $22 and comes in six shades.  I bought mine over a year ago, have been using it regularly (several times a week), and still haven’t hit pan!  I have a couple different eyebrow products that I regularly use – I think that this Browlash pen is my favorite in terms of the final look – but I still use the Anastasia most frequently, because it’s the quickest and easiest to apply.

When I was initially deciding what color to purchase, I had a hard time deciding on the shade, and I couldn’t find good quality swatches online. So, I recently went to Sephora to swatch and photograph all the shades available.  I took these swatches in natural light, outside the store.

Medium Ash duo, Brunette duo

Medium Ash, also known as Medium Brown, is a taupe-based brown (a cool brown).  Brunette, also known as Dark Brown, is a dark warm brown.

Ebony Duo, Strawburn Duo

Ebony is a deep neutral brown, and Strawburn is a reddish blonde.

If you’re looking for a brow powder, I highly recommend this one – the quality is great.  The powder is pigmented and smooth, and I only need a tiny bit to do my brows.  It lasts all day on me.  Brunette is the perfect depth for me – I use mostly the lighter shade with a touch of the darker shade – though I do wish it was a touch cooler. I could probably also use the darker shade in Medium Ash, but I don’t think the lighter shade would work on me.

Later today I’ll be posting comparison pictures of my eyebrows with the various different products I use.
