Weekly Loves #6

A newly purchased product I am loving

This has been a week of for me, but I haven’t had a chance to properly play with everything yet.  I’m especially excited about the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty palette (which I haven’t even swatched yet), the Dior Addict Fluid Stick (which I really like so far), and the Tom Ford eyeshadow brushes.

Of the items I have reviewed recently, my recent favorite is definitely L’oreal gel eyeliner in Dark Slate. Check out the review here. Continue reading

Weekly Loves #5

My Weekly Loves series is a every Sunday(ish) post on some of my loves from the week.

A newly purchased product I am loving

Not makeup, but makeup storage! Yesterday, I bought the acrylic drawers you see in the photo above to hold my brushes, which were previously in unattractive plastic drawers. I like this so much better – much cleaner, aesthetically speaking.  I would actually love to have my brushes standing up in cups, but my make that a bad idea.

A long-time or rediscovered favorite I am loving

-->source -->

 I’ve had my Dollywink liquid eyeliner for a couple years now, and it’s still going strong – not dried out! I haven’t used it consistently the whole time, but I keep coming back to it for it’s fine, precise lines.  The swatch above is a little blurry, but you can still see how thin the lines are. It’s available online at Amazon (around $22) or on eBay (around $15; AlphaBeautyUK is a reliable seller).

My most-wanted wishlist item

Dior Addict Fluid Sticks have a terrible name, but have been getting rave reviews. They’re supposed to be similar to YSL’s Glossy Stains which I love. Both products sell for $35.

A blog post I especially enjoyed reading

Instead of a blog post, how about a whole blog? I recently discovered Beauty Redefined by Pang – which is not a new blog, just new to me – and I am loving her gorgeous photos and honest reviews.   Lots of drugstore makeup is featured, too!

What are you loving right now?

Weekly Loves #4

Purchased – Affiliate Links

My Weekly Loves series is a every Sunday(ish) post on some of my loves from the week. Here is the fourth installment!

A newly purchased product I am loving

I bought two of Clinique’s new (and popular!) Cheek Pop blushes, and I received this Quickliner for Eyes Intense in Intense Plum as a gift with purchase.  I love it – the color is a gorgeous blackened plum, and it glides on easily and doesn’t smudge during the day.

A long-time or rediscovered favorite I am loving

L’oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Sahara Treasure is a long time favorite – it’s just so easy to wear. I frequently use it alone as a wash for a quick neutral eye, and it’s also great as the lid shade for a smoky eye. Sadly, it’s not available in the US, though it occasionally pops up on Ebay.

My most-wanted wishlist item

A new Ulta opened up fairly near me, and they carry several brands I’ve never had a chance to play with in person, including Lipstick Queen, Mally, and It Cosmetics. I swatched this Naturally Pretty eyeshadow palette by It Cosmetics and was blown away by the quality of the shadows. It’s available at Ulta for $42 or QVC for $39.50 (but QVC currently has a waitlist).

A blog post I especially enjoyed reading.

Liz at Beauty Reductionista is an admitted blush fiend (as am I!) and she put together a lovely post on her favorite blushes. I love reading about tried & true favorites.

Weekly Loves #3

Purchased – Affiliate Links

Oops – I forgot to post this yesterday! My Weekly Loves series is a every Sunday(ish) post on some of my loves from the week.

A newly purchased product I am loving & a long-time or rediscovered favorite I am loving –

At The Makeup Show, I purchased two Ellis Faas items, the foundation & the concealer. I’d never tried the foundation before (so it’s my newly purchased item), and I had previously owned the concealer but it had gone missing (so it’s my rediscovered favorite). I adore both of them, and will be posting a full review soon.

My most-wanted wishlist item –
bite agave lip mask

BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask is described as a soothing, leave-on lip mask that replenishes moisture in lips. Sounds like an overpriced lip balm to me, and I’ve heard the metal packaging isn’t very functional. So why do I still really, really want to try it?

A blog post I especially enjoyed reading –

I really loved two of Belly’s posts this week on Wondegondigo. First, this post has photos of all her brushes plus mini-reviews of each. Recommended for all brush lovers! This post is a brain dump regarding being a blogger, caring about pageviews, and more – as always, Belly puts words to half-formed ideas in my head. Recommended reading for all bloggers – very thought provoking.

Weekly Loves #2

Purchased – Affiliate Links

In this weekly series, I’ll be talking about some of my favorites / loves for the week.

A newly purchased product I am loving

MAC Huggable Lipstick – Rusty & Out For Passion

I try to stay away from the MAC limited-edition hype, but I was very intrigued by the sound of the huggable lipsticks. I first bought Out For Passion, and I loved it so much that I also bought Rusty. My favorite thing about these lipsticks is that they do really “hug” the lips – they’re not slippery and they transfer less than other lipsticks with similar pigmentation levels and a glossy finish.

I wasn’t planning to review these – they’re sold out now – but let me know in the comments if you’re still interested in reviews/swatches of items that are not available.

A long-time or rediscovered favorite I am loving

Rouge Bunny Rouge eyeshadow

Rouge Bunny Rouge & MAC eyeshadow (plus UD Smog)

I first wrote about Rouge Bunny Rouge eyeshadow back in 2012, and I still love it. Currently, my favorite shades are Solstice Halcyon (that’s the one with the big dip in the upper left corner), Olive Violetear (middle row, right side), and Blackpepper Jay (not pictured; I have a single rather than a pan).

You can buy Rouge Bunny Rouge eyeshadows at beautyhabit.com & -->rougebunnyrouge.com -->.

My most-wanted wishlist item

Nars Laos Matte Multiple

I spent some time playing with several new items at Sephora last weekend, and I love the color of the new NARS Matte Multiple in Laos ($39 at Sephora).  The formula seems nice as well, though it’s hard to say since I just swatched it on the back of my hand. Here’s a quick in-store swatch; Laos is the top one. .

(Note: I started writing this post earlier in the week – and then purchased the Laos at The Makeup Show LA yesterday. So this isn’t on my wishlist now, but I’m going to leave the post as-is. Review coming soon!)

A blog post I especially enjoyed reading.

This is not from the last week, but worth posting –  -->Jennifae.com --> has posted three “Swatchfest Sunday” posts with drugstore lipstick swatches, which I now have bookmarked for reference. Check them out:

-->Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid swatches --> (20 shades)
-->Maybelline Color Whisper swatches --> (24 shades)
-->Revlon Lip Butter swatches --> (24 shades)

Weekly Loves #1

Purchased – No Affiliate Links

I decided to start a new series, Weekly Loves.  I’ll be (hopefully!) posting it every week on Sunday so I can discuss my loves / favorites from the week.  I’ll use the following four prompts to structure the post:

  1. A newly purchased product I am loving;
  2. A long-time or rediscovered favorite I am loving;
  3. My most-wanted wishlist item; and
  4. A blog post I especially enjoyed reading.

Let’s get started –

A newly purchased product I am loving

I really love thermal nail polish right now, and Polished by KPT makes my favorites ones.  The newest addition to my thermal polish family Harvest Moon, which is especially great because it’s work appropriate – nude/beige when warm & orange when cold (and holo, too!).
