Essence Stay Matt Lip Cream Review & Swatches

Purchased – Affiliate Links

Good morning (or whatever time it is for you)! Today I have some quick lip swatches of Essence’s Stay Matt[e] Lip Creams ($2.99 at Ulta) – I have all three of the shades that are available in the US. I’m short on time today, so instead of a wordy review, I just have a few bullet points:

  • Silky Red & Smooth Berry have beautiful, opaque pigmentation
  • Velvet Rose is a bit patchy
  • All three are initially satiny and dry down to a velvety matte finish
  • I find them neither drying nor hydrating
  • They have a very strong, very sweet carmelized sugar scent that I hate.

And here’s a full face photo with Smooth Berry, which is my (surprising!) favorite.

Revlon Fifth Avenue Red Vintage Lipstick Review & Swatches

Purchased – No Affiliate Links

Revlon recently rereleased five “vintage” discontinued shades from the Super Lustrous lipstick line. The rereleased shades are (sadly!) limited edition this time around. I really like the Super Lustrous lipsticks – they are creamy, comfortable to wear, and have no scent. Note that the creme finish Super Lustrous lipsticks are different from the previously reviewed Super Lustrous Shine lipsticks (there are also shimmer/frost finish & matte finish Super Lustrous lipsticks – I don’t own any of the shimmers, but the mattes are great).

The five rereleased shades are, as you see above, Icy Violet, Snow Peach, Sandstorm, Fifth Ave Red, and Jungle Peach. I found a full display, but only one of the shades called to me – Fifth Ave Red. And it is a fantastic red! The color is gorgeous, a deep true red – and the formula is as good as I expect the Super Lustrous lipsticks to be.

Revlon Fifth Ave Red – it has no sparkle, it’s just the way the light reflecting back.

Revlon Fifth Ave Red – this is the most color-accurate swatch.

The lip swatch above is more color-accurate than the partial face picture below.

This swatch is slightly less color-accurate – it’s a bit washed out, but I wanted to show how it reads on the face.

Did you pick up any of the rereleased / vintage shades?

Wet n Wild Lady and the Vamp Red-dy or Not Rico Mauve Balm Stains

Good morning! Today I have swatches of three of Wet n Wild’s new MegaSlicks Balm Stains.  As you can see, these are packaged like all the other twist up lip pencils — RevlonKissable Balm Stains, Jordana balm stains, Hard Candy All Glossed Up pencils, Covergirl Gloss Balms, Tarte Lipsurgence pencils, etc.

The Wet n Wild balm stains are a permanent addition to the line, and come in six colors. I have Lady and the Vamp, Red-dy or Not, and Rico Mauve. The other shades are named A Stiff Pink, Pinky Promise, and Nudist Colony.

Burberry Lip Cover Lipstick Review & Swatches

Purchased Affiliate Links

When I purchased my Burberry Lip Mist sample card (reviewed here), I also picked up a Lip Cover sample card.  These are actually not intended to be purchased – they’re supposed to be given away free at counters – but they’re worth the purchase for me, especially since each sample is good for multiple applications.

Burberry Lip Mist Lipstick Review & Swatches

Purchased Affiliate Links

I’ve heard many, many great things about Burberry’s lipstick formulas, but at $30 each, I wanted to try before I bought one.  So, I went to eBay and bought a sampler set of four Lip Mist lipsticks, which I am going to review today, as well as a sampler set of four Lip Cover lipsticks, which I will review separately. Burberry also has a third lipstick formula – the Lip Velvets – but there is no sample set has been made for those.  Note that these sampler sets were not intended for purchase; they are intended to be given away at counters.

Fyrinnae Isis & Dragon’s Blood Lip Lustre Review & Swatches

Purchased

Dragon’s Blood // Isis

A few months ago, I purchased several Fyrinnae eyeshadows – which I love – and also decided to try out two of their lip lustres. The lip lustres are marketed as “a non-sticky lipcolour, leaving rich colour on your lips but no goopy tackiness”. They cost $7 for a full size (8ml) or $2 for a trial size (1.5ml); I bought two trial sizes, and there is a note that the trial size applicator is inferior to the full size product’s applicator.
