Swatch of the Day: L’oreal Purple Priority Infallible Eyeshadow

Purchased – Affiliate Links

I don’t have a lot of time to blog today, so here’s a quick swatch of one of the new L’oreal Butterfly Collection Infallible shades, which are permanent ($7.99 at Ulta.com or drugstore.com), Purple Priority.  I love the Infallible formula, but only two shades in the collection interested me – this one and Gilded Envy, swatched here.

This is a lovely shade and great quality – if you’re looking for a purple eyeshadow, I recommend it.

L’oreal Miss Candy Summer 2013 Infallible Eyeshadow Swatches & Quick Review

Purchased

L’oreal has released a summer collection, Miss Candy, that consists entirely of limited edition products. I’ve already swatched and reviewed six of the “gellie” (jelly) nail polishes, and today I found a display that had all four of the LE infallible eyeshadows – and I was so excited to find them that I bought them all! Picture heavy post ahead.

L’oreal Cosmic Black Infallible Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

L'oreal Cosmic Black Infallible Eyeshadow

L’oreal Cosmic Black Infallible Eyeshadow

I admit that featuring limited edition products from Australia may not be the kindest thing to do on an US-based beauty blog – but hey, I bought mine on Ebay, if you love it – there are more available! Shipping is expensive, but the seller combines shipping, and you can also buy Bronze Goddess, which is an exact dupe for  Gleaming Bronze, which was a US limited edition, and is one of my all-time favorite eyeshadows (I bought a Bronze Goddess as a backup, and can confirm that it is identical).

I’m actually not completely sure where Cosmic Black was initially released – this amazing chart of all the Infallible eyeshadows has it in the UK / Other section – but I’ve only ever seen it on Ebay from an Australian seller. If you have more information, I will update the post.

There are so many reviews of the Infallible eyeshadows around at this point that I’m not going to talk about the packaging or consistency; I’m going to move straight to the color.  Cosmic Black is a blackened olive green with some sparkle – it’s similar to Gleaming Bronze, but darker and sparklier.  Below, I’ve swatched Gleaming Bronze and Cosmic Black side by side in three different lighting conditions.

Similar – but for me, a lover of olives and bronzes, different enough that I’m very glad to own both!

And, I’m never sure how much you all want to read about non-beauty-related things, but my fiancée and I adopted two kittens! Res (the black one, male) loves to snuggle, and Essie (the tortiseshell one, female) is still a bit shy, but gradually getting more comfortable.

L’oreal Blinged & Brilliant Infallible Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

New L'oreal Infallible - Blinged & Brilliant

New L’oreal Infallible – Blinged & Brilliant

Today at CVS I spotted a new L’oreal collection, the Diamond Collection. One display had lots of new products – lipgloss, nail polish, and nail strips – and the other had some mascaras and three new Infallible eyeshadow shades.  The eyeshadow shades are Primped & Precious, a silver; Blinged & Brilliant, a neutral, and Gold Imperial, a gold (which I believe may be permanent in other countries).

I was most interested in Blinged & Brilliant, so that’s the one I bought.  Like all the Infallible eyeshadows I’ve tried, it is smooth and pigmented.  I generally get all-day wear with Infallibles (they last until I remove them), though I’ve heard that isn’t the case for everyone.

L'oreal Amber Rush, L'oreal Blinged & Brilliant

L’oreal Amber Rush, L’oreal Blinged & Brilliant

At first, I thought the color might be similar to the shade Amber Rush (which I don’t own),  but I compared them in-store, and Amber rush is darker.

However, when I got home, I realized that I do own an almost – dupe; Armani Eyes To Kill Intense in 9 Rock Sand (reviewed here).  They have a virtually identical texture, and look the same in the pot:

almost dupes: L'oreal Blinged & Brilliant, Armani Rock Sand

However, there are very slight differences when swatched.  Below, I’ve swatched each eyeshadow with a fingertip on bare skin (I find that fingertip swatches work better than brushes or sponge-tipped applicators for this texture of eyeshadow).  You can see that the L’oreal, on the left, is more pigmented
than the Armani, but the color and finish are the same.

This is a very pretty, wearable color for all skintones – it just brightens up the whole eye area.  And, I love the L’oreal Infallible eyeshadow.  So, I would definitely recommend keeping an eye out for this shade.

Summer 2012 Favorites

summer makeup favorites

My favorites don’t change often enough for me to do monthly favorites posts, but sometimes the mood strikes and I want to share the products I’m currently loving!  I put together this post with the thought that these were just product I was loving right now, then realized that for the most part, they’re summer-themed.

L’Oreal Gleaming Bronze Infallible Eyeshadow (review) – Perfect for summer, I’ve been loving this as a wash for a simple everyday look.

Revlon Romantic balm stain (review) – Still a favorite for a simple & low maintenance lip.  I love how long wearing it is!

Duochrome / Multichrome nail polish. Love love love! My top two favorites are Ludurana Emocionante and Ludurana Show. When I wear them, I cannot stop moving my hands and staring at my nails!

Ludurana Emocionante
Colored eyeliner – perfect for an easy summer look, especially for hot days! Pictured here with eyeshadow (Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, set with Burberry Trench), but so easy with no eyeshadow and just mascara.  Two of my favorites are Milani Color Play eyeliner in Blue Definition (review) and Inglot Soft Precision Eyeliner in 28 (review).
Milani Color Play eyeliner in Blue Definition
Burberry Trench eyeshadow (review) – still my go to highlight shade!

Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara (review) – I am just loving this mascara. Without wiping off the wand, it gives huge volume; if I wipe off the wand, it gives volume, but with more definition.  It’s not waterproof (and thus easy to remove), but it never smears, smudges, or flakes on me.  It’s my current favorite mascara, and at $3-4, the price is definitely right!

Most of my favorites definitely have something in common – they are perfect for hot summer days. A wash of eyeshadow or a simple colored eyeliner; an effortless lip balm/stain.  The duochrome nail polish works all year, but really shines in the bright sunlight!

And, swatches!

L’oreal Gleaming Bronze Color Infallible Eyeshadow Review, Swatches, Photos

One of L’oreal offering’s for 2012 are the new Color Infallible 24 hour eyeshadows.  In addition to the permanent shades (which vary by country), L’oreal released a few limited edition shades for summer, including the stunning Gleaming Bronze.

Because the internet is oversaturated with reviews of this formula, I’m not going to to do an in-depth review; instead, I’m just going to let the photos speak for themselves!

I do want to note that this is buttery smooth, and practically blends itself.   The color is multidimensional and beautiful. I refrained from buying it for a while because I was afraid it would lean too green, but it doesn’t; it does have some green in it, but mostly, it’s just a lovely, smooth bronze.

Here it is on my eye – I’ve blended it out with Burberry Trench, which did soften the color somewhat – you can see the true “gleaming bronze” color nearest to my eyelashes.

Are you a fan of the L’Oreal Color Infallible Eyeshadows, and does Gleaming Bronze look like something you would wear?
