Guerlain Chamade 164 Rouge Automatique Review, Swatches, Photos

Guerlain Chamade 164

Today, I have Guerlain’s Rouge Automatique in Chamade (164) for you. Since I’ve reviewed several of Guerlain’s Rouge Automatique lipsticks, I’ll make this review short & sweet!

Love: The formula! Very comfortable to wear & long lasting. The slider-thing is fun too.

Fine with: The packaging. Not a huge fan of gold, but I don’t hate it.

Dislike: The price. $35 is steep!

I really like how this looks on my lips – it’s sort of juicy and reminds me of a jelly-finish nail polish. Love it!

Perhaps my shortest review ever?

Guerlain 101 Violette De Madame Rouge Automatique Review, Swatches, Photos

Guerlain 101 Violette de Madame

Guerlain 101 Violette de Madame

Guerlain’s Rouge Automatique lipsticks have one of my favorite lipstick formulas.  Matte lipsticks are actually my favorite overall, but in the non-matte category, Rouge Automatiques are tops.  They are smooth, moisturizing-but-not-greasy, and last very well.  The only thing I dislike about them is the price – $35.
As I’ve noted before, the packaging – while very functional – isn’t really to my taste; I don’t like the gold, and would prefer black.  I do like the slider.
One of my new shades is Violette de Madam (101), which is a soft my-lips-but-better color on me. Depending on the pigmentation of your lips and your skintone, it might be anything from a nude to a soft, rosy natural on you.

I really love this shade; it’s very flattering and pretty on me. Here’s the lip swatch:
And finally, a comparison of the closest lip colors in my stash. From left to right, I have swatched Poppy King Confidence, Guerlain Violette de Madame,  NARS Gipsy, and NARS Dolce Vita Velvet Matte lip pencil.  As you can see, none are particularly close.

Guerlain Guet-Apens 167 Rouge Automatique Review, Swatches, Photos

As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ll be doing some reviews that are a bit lighter on text for the next little while.  Here’s a mini-review and some swatches and photos of one of my newest acquisions, the utterly gorgeous Guerlain Rouge Automatique lipstick in Guet-Apens (167).

The packaging is fun, and very functional, but not really my style.  The lipstick itself is perfection – fantastic color, wonderful texture, and great staying power,

Guerlain Guet-Apens

It’s unique in my stash; I have some similar colors, but nothing identical, and the similar colors I have are very different textures.   Below, I’ve swatched NARS Damned Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, Guerlain Guet-Apens Rouge Automatique, MAC Casual Color pot in Keep It Casual, and L’Oreal Caresse Lipstick in Cherry Tulle.

Comparison: NARS Damned, Guerlain Guet-Apens, MAC Keep it Casual, L’oreal Cherry Tulle

And finally, a lip swatch – it’s actually more glossy when applied, but this is blotted slightly, because that is how I prefer to wear my lipstick:

Are you a fan of the Rouge Automatique line? If so, what’s your favorite color from the line?

Guerlain Nahema Rouge Automatique Lipstick Review, Swatches, Photos

Guerlain Nahema has been on my wishlist since I first saw a swatch. It’s a gorgeous coral – my favorite – and I’ve heard only excellent things about Guerlain’s Rouge Automatique lipstick formula. The only reason I hesitated so long to buy it was the price; $35 is steep for a single lipstick, at least for me. After owning it for a while, and wearing it several times, I’m glad I splurged for it!

Nahmea is a lovely pink-coral with a glossy sheen. True to what I’ve heard, the formula is excellent – very comfortable to wear, yet long lasting. I find that it’s glossy at first, then it sort of transforms into a more muted sheen, which is also very lovely.

I also discovered that I already own a very similar shade – albeit one with a really terrible formula. Here’s a comparison, with Guerlain Nahema on the left, and NYX Femme on the right. Femme – which, if you recall, has a really slippery, uncomfortable formula – is like a more saturated version of Nahema. It’s a good option for a dupe for Nahema if you don’t mind the texture of Femme (and for $4, I’m sure some won’t!). Read my full review of Femme here.

And, finally, here’s a quick look I did to feature Nahema. Sorry about the deadpan stare, it was the best of a bunch of terrible pictures! I’m not really pleased with most of my makeup so I won’t list it, but I think Nahema looks great 🙂

I bought Nahema at at Sephora store, and it’s also available at Sephora.com.
