Revlon Shameless Matte Balm Swatches & Quick Review

Revlon recently released two permanent additions to the Colorburst line – Matte Balms and Lacquer Balms (links go to Target, where both are now available to purchase online). I’m still loving my Revlon Balm Stains, so I was initially quite intrigued. However, as the reviews started rolling in, I got more skeptical. Although some loved the matte balms, some found them patchy. And, most shades of the lacquer balms have glitter, which is not my preference for lip products.  However, the matte balm in Shameless looked like such a gorgeous color that I decided to go for it.

The verdict? Pretty color, too patchy to be worth it. In the lip swatch, I had to smooth it out with my finger to make it wearable at all. I am probably going to return this.

Such a pretty color! And sooooo patchy. D:

Yeah, that was my experience too. Striking is bright enough to disguise the patchiness a bit, but it’s still not great. I returned the first one I tried (Elusive). Boo, I had such high hopes for these.

    • I saw your review! It was why I bought one instead of a couple, so thank you 🙂

I’ve seen so many glowing reviews for them! I’m glad I’m not alone in my disappointment. I was starting to feel unreasonable.

You guys can return used drugstore stuff? Lucky! I saw these but don’t dig super glossy balms nor mattes. But the colour IS very pretty, rats.

    • It depends on where you buy it, but all three of the major drugstore chains accept used makeup returns within 30 days (or maybe 60?) with receipt. I very very rarely drugstore makeup, but it’s great to know I can.

I felt like all of the matte balms were patchy.. like they have an odd slippery feel to them. It’s definitely not a true matte in my book. I’m glad that I’m not the only one!

    • Yes, I totally agree that they’re slippery and not very matte. It feels very silicone-y.

  • i agree with you re: the patchiness and i want to love this product so much. i still like it though since it does go on pretty creamy but the patchiness on the dryer parts of the lips aren’t so good.

I liked the others from this collection, but I had the patchiness problem with this shade, as well.

    • I’m glad to know the other shades performed better, maybe I’ll exchange this one instead of returning 🙂

  • I have pretty much every shade except Complex & Mischievous and I would say Shameless, Elusive, Unapologetic & Audacious applied patchy. Sultry and Standout would be my favorites because they applied nicely.

    • This is great to know, thank you! I’ll take a look at Sultry & Standout 🙂

Shoot, I forgot which shade I bought, but it wasn’t patchy. It was a more neutral shade, though.
