Good morning! Revlon recently released the Electric Chrome collection based on The Amazing Spiderman 2 movie. It includes six new, limited edition nail polishes and three new, limited edition Super Lustrous glosses, as well as some permanent product repromotes. You can see the collection on my Instagram and a close up of the three glosses . I have to say, I think the best part of this collection is the packaging – love the gold spiderweb nail polish & lipgloss tops! Continue reading
Drugstore Beauty Favorites: Kristin Bassett from beautyXposé
I thought it would be fun (and useful!) to have some bloggers write about their favorite drugstore makeup & beauty products. First up, we have Kristin Bassett from beautyXposé.
Kristin’s beauty motto? Less is more. She is the queen of simplicity and the “natural look.” You won’t spot this beauty buff sporting heavy makeup anytime soon, unless you run into her at a costume party.
Like any respectable beauty blogger, I love spending hours upon hours at Sephora. However, I don’t always love the amount of money I can drop there in just minutes, let alone in hours.
So, how do I feed my need for beauty products without breaking the bank? The drugstore beauty aisle, of course! I’ve tried hundreds of drugstore beauty products over the years. Some I hated, so I liked but didn’t think twice about when they ran out. There are only a handful of beauty products, drugstore or high-end, that I can’t live without anymore. Here are the five drugstore beauty products that are always stocked in my beauty closet: Continue reading
ELF Lip Balm Tint Review & Swatches

ELF Essential Lip Balm Tint: Nude // Grapefruit // Berry
I bought ELF’s Essential Lip Balm Tint in Berry a while back (previously reviewed). I liked it so much that when I saw a few other colors for sale at my Walgreens, I bought two more shades – Nude & Berry.
As I wrote previously, these are more of a gloss and less of a balm. They are mildly moisturizing, but won’t fix chapped lips. They have a sweet vanilla scent and a slightly sweet taste.

Nude // Grapefruit // Berry
Nude is a white-based, and I found that it settles into lip lines a little. Grapefruit & Berry both have clear bases for a jelly-ish finish, and both are lovely. I would recommend those two!

Have you tried the ELF Essential Lip Balm Tints? Or do you have any ELF product recommendations for me?

Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter A-Peel Review
This post is way, way overdue. About a year ago, the very kind Allison of Nail Pattern Boldness sent me a bottle of her -->Glitter A-Peel peel-off basecoat --> for review. Now that OPI has released a Glitter Off base coat, I am (finally) going to review the Nail Pattern Boldness version.
First, let’s talk about OPI Glitter Off (which I don’t see for sale online anywhere – but there are several blogger reviews). It’s basically watered down PVC glue (in the US, the most common brand of PVC glue is Elmer’s Glue). I haven’t used the OPI, but I’ve used slightly watered down PVC glue several times as a base coat. It does work in that it peels off easily when it’s time to remove, but overall I find using it a frustrating experience. My manicure peels off best if I use either one thick coat of glue or two very thin coats, and either way, the glue takes several minutes to dry — and I can’t apply my polish until it’s totally dry without making a mess. Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm Review & Swatches
Almay has generally been a brand I’ve overlooked – they just didn’t have many products that intrigued me. In the last year or so, they’ve been coming out with some interesting new items. I was very intrigued by the Shadow Softies, though unfortunately they didn’t work for me. Quite a while back, I received one of Almay’s Color + Care Liquid Lip Balms ($4.99 at Target.com), and I liked it enough to purchase two more shades.
The Almay Liquid Lip Balms are really a moisturizing gloss. Texturewise, they remind me of Maybelline’s Color Elixir glosses (reviews) and the L’oreal Extraordinare glosses (review), but they are much less pigmented than either of those two products. The Almay glosses range from quite sheer to moderately pigmented. And – yay! – they not overly scented like the Color Elixirs or Extraordinares. They have a faint sweet scent and no taste.

Pink Pout
Pink Pout is quite sheer and a little bit milky. I don’t like this shade very much.

Apple A Day
Apple A Day is a gorgeous warm red. Definitely my favorite!

Just Plum
Just Plum is a lovely purple-berry. I really like this one too.
Have you tried these glosses? And is there anything else from Almay that I am overlooking and should try out?
*I received the Apple balm as a Klout Perk. I purchased the other two shades featured in this post. This post contains one or more affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more information.
