MAC Archie’s Girls Feelin’ So Good Lipglass Swatches & Photos

I get frustrated with the way MAC’s limited edition collections sell out before I have a chance to see swatches, so I often just skip them entirely – but one item from the new Archie’s Girls collection caught my eye.  I purchased the Feelin’ So Good Lipglass, a very deep, vampy purple-brown lip gloss, based off of just one swatch – and I’m so glad that I did!

I haven’t tested it out thoroughly (but if you’re familiar with MAC’s lipglass formula, this is the same), so this post will be mainly swatches & pictures. It’s actually still available online at Maccosmetics.com; and once it sells out there, it will still be obtainable for a while – it seems that this isn’t going to be a shade that sells out immediately, so you will be able to find it at MAC stores, counters, and other online retailers – I prefer to buy MAC at Nordstrom due to their free shipping / free returns policy.

I don’t usually do heavy and light swatches for lip products, but it seemed useful since this gloss is very different when worn as a sheer layer vs. a when worn more heavily. Note that although there is a tiny bit of sparkle in the swatch, it doesn’t show up on my lips.

I have lip swatches several ways. You’ll notice that in the first three photos, it gathers in my lip lines – this was somewhat visible in person, but not nearly as visible as it in close up photography.

After trying Feelin’ So Good alone, I also tried it over two very different red lipsticks (both swatched alone in this post). Rouge d’Armani 400 is a bright red with a slightly glossy finish; NARS Cruella is a darker red with a matte finish.

My favorite look that I tried is definitely over NARS Cruella – I love how it deepens the color. I tried this over Wet n Wild Cherry Bomb, and loved it so much I had to update this post with a photo! I also adore it over Wet n Wild Ferguson Crest Cabernet – you can see a photo of that combination here.  I’ll definitely be layering this gloss over lots of other lipsticks as well; I think it will work well with most cool shades. Any suggestions for what I should try it over?

Did you buy anything from the Archie’s Girls collections? What are your thoughts on limited-edition MAC generally?

you chosed the shade I love, this shade is me, even I am not a gloss lover

I feel the same. There’s so much buzz about some limited edition collections that it’s almost become a trouble for me to just get something. And I feel annoyed. I’m paying money to give the brand business and yet it feels like I have to go through all these trouble so they can “offer” me a chance to purchase products. So sometimes I just skip the entire collection. On the other hand, this is a very beautiful color on the lips.

  • I think this is an interesting shade. I’m not too into the Archie Girls collection, though, I just want the packaging haha

I picked up the Betty Bright and Daddy’s Little Girl lipsticks. They’re beautiful bright colors for spring and the packaging is so cute!
As for MAC’s limited edition collections, I read all the reviews, but I don’t pick up anything unless I really want something and the quality is there. “Limited edition” really pressures people to purchase something so I try to make a good decision about how much I really want something. Also, I don’t have a problem with the products selling out so fast. I guess I ration it by thinking – If I had really wanted it, I could have bought it before it sold out without seeing swatches. And if I still really want it, I can wait for it to popback or call the store. My only real problem is that MAC comes out with so many collections that there end up being more quality issues then there should be.
I’m always a sucker for changed packaging though!

It’s amazing what a difference the lipstick underneath makes. This looks like a great way to wear such a deep shade without the drama of a lipstick. It’s a lovely color on you!

  • I haven’t purchased any limited-edition MAC products in years. MAC launches collections too often, and I never get very impressed by most of them (both in quality and colors). Though I really like this lipgloss, it looks great over a red lipstick. I would love to see what it looks like over a purple lipstick too!

  • I love MAC LE collections. They also have wonderful things on their permanent line. I really like the Archie products, but I am not an archie comic fan and I spent a lot of money on the LE PS3 white console this month lol. I am looking forward for April though!

  • I have to agree Emi, the gloss over Cruella is fabulous! I liked a couple of the glosses from the collection, but I get kind of irritated with MAC about all the LE collections and how fast they sell out too – so generally I don’t even bother…
