Revlon Standout Matte Balm

Revlon Standout Matte Balm

A while back, I reviewed Revon’s matte balm ($8.99 at Ulta) in the shade Shameless.  I was not a fan; I found that it was somewhat patchy and accentuated dry patches.  However, after reading several positive reviews of the matte balms, some of which acknowledged Shameless as poorly performing as compared to the other shades, I decided to try one more shade – and I’m glad I did! My Favorite “MLBB,” Neutral, & Natural Lipsticks & Glosses

MLBB lipstick

Good morning! Today I have quick reviews & swatches of five of my favorite mlbb (my lips but better) / neutral / natural lipsticks & glosses. These aren’t what I’d call nude lipsticks – I think of those as paler than my natural lip tone – but rather rosy, natural colors. I tend to wear this type of lip color to work, and all five of these are frequently used.

OCC Rollergirl, Pool Boy, Mannequin Lip Tar Swatches

Pool Boy //Mannequin // Rollergirl

I received a few OCC items at The Makeup Show, and today I have swatches of three lip tars from the new Plastic Passion collection.  You can see all of the Plastic Passion lip tars at here on Sephora.com. For beautiful swatches of all six shades, check out Portrait of Mai’s post here.

Lip Tars, as you are probably aware, are an intensely pigmented liquid lipstick.  I find that they work best when I apply the thinnest layer possible.  I don’t generally experience bleeding with lip tars, but if you do, a clear lip liner or lip primer will help. Continue reading

Essence Stay Matt Lip Cream Review & Swatches

Purchased – Affiliate Links

Good morning (or whatever time it is for you)! Today I have some quick lip swatches of Essence’s Stay Matt[e] Lip Creams ($2.99 at Ulta) – I have all three of the shades that are available in the US. I’m short on time today, so instead of a wordy review, I just have a few bullet points:

  • Silky Red & Smooth Berry have beautiful, opaque pigmentation
  • Velvet Rose is a bit patchy
  • All three are initially satiny and dry down to a velvety matte finish
  • I find them neither drying nor hydrating
  • They have a very strong, very sweet carmelized sugar scent that I hate.

And here’s a full face photo with Smooth Berry, which is my (surprising!) favorite.

Revlon Gucci Westman lipsticks

I’m a big fan of Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipsticks – I’ve tried & like the cremes, the mattes, and the shine formulas. All my Super Lustrous lipstick reviews are here. So, when I saw this , my eyes went right to the lipsticks, and I was not disappointed. The four available shades are Brazilian Tan (brown/nude, creme finish), Ipanema Beach (appears to be a light ivory, pearl finish), Sultry Samba (hot pink, matte finish) and Carnival Spirit (orange, shine finish). MAC Rusty & Out For Passion Huggable Lipstick Review & Swatches

Rusty // Out For Passion

I recently posted about MAC’s limited edition (and no longer available) Huggable Lipsticks in my Weekly Loves post. As that post states, I I try to stay away from the MAC limited-edition hype, but I was very intrigued by the sound of the Huggable lipsticks. I first bought Out For Passion, and I loved it so much that I also bought Rusty. Continue reading
