Boscia B.B. Cream SPF 27 PA++ Review, Swatches, Photos

A while ago, I received a free sample of Boscia B.B. Cream SPF 27 PA++ along with my Sephora order.  I was excited to try it, as it’s the first BB Cream that I’ve owned.

However, when I first swatched it on my arm, I was confused – why on earth would a foundation type product be filled with silver glitter specks?  I was so puzzled that I thought there might be some mistake – maybe I got a defective tube, maybe I had leftover eyeshadow on my hand that I hadn’t noticed. So, I checked the makeupalley review (registration required), and sure enough, several people mentioned the glitter.

I tried to photograph the sparkle, but it was very hard to capture – you can see some sparkle in the below picture, but it actually has even more sparkle / glitter than this.

Note that it’s not shimmer; it’s fine specks of silver glitter.  Additionally, as you can see from the swatch, it’s quite orange-y.

The texture of the BB Cream is fine; then again, I’ve never actually applied it to my face.  If you were so inclined, you could buy it at Sephora.

Have you tried this BB Cream? I’m really curious to hear what you thought!

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Review, Swatches, Photos

hello flawless oxygen wow

When I got my brows done at Benefit the other day, I was given a couple samples of Benefit’s new liquid foundation, Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow, to try out.   I got two samples from the middle of the shade range,  Honey and Beige.

First, I swatched them on my arm to get an idea of which shade might be better for me.  I was suprised by how liquidy the foundation is – it’s very watery.  Honey matches my inner arm fairly well, and Beige is far too dark for me.

When I compared Honey to my other foundations, I was concerned that it might be too dark or pink for me, but when I applied it to my face it blended in very well.  I normally apply my foundation with a Sigma F80, but this was a bit too liquid to work well with that brush – it worked better with my fingers.  Here are photos of my bare face and my face with Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow applied.

I was very pleased with coverage and overall look of the foundation.  One aspect that I’m still not sure about is the finish – it has a very dewy, moist finish that absolutely requires powder.   I personally prefer a more natural finish – something in between dewy and matte.

Have you tried Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow? Are you planning to?

Project Swatch #19: Liquid Foundation Comparison, Swatches

I’m going to do my liquid foundation comparison & swatches a little bit differently – I’ll show you how these look actually applied to my skin. I have three different liquid foundations to showcase today (but two shades of one, which I’m currently mixing together).

bare skin

First off, here’s my bare skin. AS you can see, I have some redness, and a red spot on my chin from a zit that’s beginning to heal. My chin is the area of my face with the worst skin, so I usually apply foundation full-strength to it, than blend sheerly over the rest of my face.

Bourjois Healthy Mix

Bourjois Healthy (I’m wearing 52 Vanilla) mix has a pleasant, fruity scent. It’s a little bit pink for me, and it has a good level of coverage – you can still see the red spot, which is fine by me – I don’t want full coverage foundation, and there’s always concealer. It comes in a pump bottle, which is ideal. I’m not sure how well this lasts, because I haven’t worn it out much – it’s nice, but I just prefer MUFE for some reason.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

I really like Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I’m wearing Bisque, in the oil free version. It’s a tiny bit dark for me right now, but it’s perfect during the summer, which is when I want tinted moisturizer anyway. This wears very well for me, and I really like the level of coverage, which I think is more like a very light foundation than a tinted moisturizer. The one downside is that this very much smells like sunscreen to me.

MUFE HD Foundation

MUFE HD is my favorite foundation. I’m 117 in the winter and 120 in the summer. After traveling over Christmas, I’m mixing both shades together right now. I really, really love this – I can build it up for more coverage and easily sheer it out for less. It photographs beautifully, but looks natural in person too. It seems to last very well (and I never bother with primer).  It matches my skintone really well.
