Tarte Blissful Amazonian Clay Blush Review, Swatches, Photos

My weakness for coral blushes is well documented, and I couldn’t resist buying another one recently – Tarte Blissful Amazonian Clay blush, a lovely coral pink.

Tarte Blissful is my second Amazonian Clay blush, and I’m loving the formula (more on that in a minute) – but the packaging leaves a little bit to be desired. The compacts are cute, though not really my style – I prefer something sleek and black and silver – but what really bugs me is that the pans spin around in the compact, they are not anchored in place.  It doesn’t really affect the functioning of the blush, but it is quite annoying.

In terms of the quality of the product though, Tarte blushes have it all! They are soft, silky, and have a lovely level of pigmentation.  They are pigmented enough to be easy to use, but are not so pigmented that they are difficult to blend.  They last very well on my normal to dry skin.

The color of Blissful, a coral-pink, is absolutely perfect for my skintone.  It reminds me of my all-time favorite discontinued blush, Smashbox Smashing Publish – they’re almost exact dupes, which makes me very happy!

And, here I am wearing Blissful – you get a profile view this time for variety.

Tarte Adored Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Gloss Review, Swatches, Photos

Several weeks ago, I won Bloomin Beauty’s Spring Giveaway. I received several spring-y items, including the lovely Tarte Adored Amazonian Clay Blush (review).  Also included in the giveaway package was the Tarte Marjacuja Divine Shine Lip Gloss, also in the shade “Adored” – a sheer baby pink.

The lip gloss in packaged in a click-style applicator.  It has a button on the end to push to dispense the lipgloss. It took approximately 75 clicks to get the lipgloss to dispense the first time, but after that, it only takes 1-3 clicks to use the lipgloss.

Adored is very sheer – it doesn’t really show up on my lips as a color, but instead is a high quality clear gloss; very glossy and very comfortable to wear.  It is supposed to be a lip plumping gloss, and it has a slight minty scent and tingles just a little bit.  It doesn’t seem like something that would be a problem for most, but it’s something to be aware of if you have sensitive lips.

Overall, if you’re looking for a clear gloss and you either like or don’t mind click-pen style packaging, I think you’ll appreciate Tarte Adored lip gloss.  If you’re looking for something with a little more color, check out Bloomin Beauty’s swatches of some of the other shades.

Tarte Adored Amazonian Clay Blush Review, Swatches, Photos

I was very excited to find out that I won Bloomin Beauty Blog‘s Spring Giveaway a couple weeks ago, and even more excited when the package arrived! My most anticipated item was the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Adored; I’ve wanted to try the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes since they came out, but haven’t bought a single one yet. I’ve also been wanting a pink blush, but hadn’t managed to pick one up yet. So, this was perfect!

The one thing that made me hesitate, however, was the level of sparkle in the blush – normally, I only wear matte blush, and just add highligher when I want to glow. When I first opened the compact, I was struck by the amount of sparkle – it looks like a lot.  However, when I swatched the blush on my arm, I realized that the blush actually has a matte base with sparkle, rather than being a shimmery blush.  The bits of sparkle don’t emphasize pores in the way that shimmer does, which is one of the main things I dislike about shimmery blush.

When swatched, this blush is really lovely – it’s a really true pink, with a great level of pigmentation. It’s pigmented enough to show up easily, and to be easily built up, but not so pigmented that it’s difficult to use. Another thing I like about it is that it doesn’t look chalky at all – instead, it’s sort of a sheer pink.

On my face, the color is really lovely – fresh and spring-like; just perfect. I’m able to buff away most of the sparkle, leaving a matte pink, though a few specks of sparkle remain, which doesn’t bother me. I wouldn’t wear this blush to a job interview, but it’s perfect for just about everything else.  Here’s a photo with Tarte Adored on my face (my lipstick is Guerlain Nahema, which I reviewed previously).

Overall, I really love this blush, and I see more Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes in my future! Do you own any of the Tarte blushes?

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes are available on Sephora.com and Ulta.com

New Sephora and Tarte 500 Point Perk – This One is Worth It

Do you hoard your Sephora points or spend them? I’m usually a hoarder – I’ll spend 100 points here and there, but I’ve never spent 500 points before – until I saw this amazing Tarte set, called “Intro to Amazonian Clay.”

It contains 5 items:
– Full-size LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint in Lively (hot pink)
– Full-size emphasEyes High Definition Eye Pencil (color is not labeled; soft black)
– Mini Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder
– Mini ReCreate Silicone-Free Primer
– Mini Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess (shimmering golden)

I’ve been wanting to try out some Tarte items – most especially the matte Lip Tints – so this was a perfect opportunity for me to do so!

Here are swatches of the bronzer, eyeliner, and lip tint:

If this looks good to you (and if have 500 points saved up!) I would recommend getting yourself to a Sephora store or  Sephora.com quickly – this is such a good gift that I bet it will sell out very quickly!
