Maybelline Coral Heat Peach Glisten ColorSensational Lip Gloss

Maybelline LE Summer 2013 ColorSensational Lip Gloss Review & Swatches

Maybelline Coral Heat Peach Glisten ColorSensational Lip Gloss

As regular readers know, I’m more of a lipstick person than a gloss person. So, although I’ve seen Maybelline’s ColorSensational lip glosses around, I hadn’t tried them out for myself until I saw the shades released for their limited edition Summer 2013 collection.  Two shades especially caught my eye – Peach Glisten, a creamy pale nude, and Coral Heat, a pink coral – and of course, I chose shades without any shimmer or sparkle.

Maybelline Summer 2013 Limited Edition Collection Recap

Maybelline has released a whole slew of new, limited-edition products for Summer 2013.  There are several separate displays at this point, though it’s likely that a large endcap display will show up with all the products eventually.  Since there are so many displays, I thought it would be helpful to recap what I’ve seen thus far in order to keep track of it all!

Above, you see the main Color Tattoo display. It has six limited edition color tattoos; the back row is Cool Crush, Icy Mint, & Waves of White. The front row is Shady Shores & Lavish Lavender, and off to the side we have Seashore Frosts.  This display also has two LE Masterdrama eyeliners – Taupe and Navy Knockout. I bought some of these, and will be reviewing them in a separate post!

Maybelline Coral Burst Blush Review & Swatches

Earlier today, I posted about Maybelline’s new limited edition Color Goes Electric collection for Fashion Week Spring 2013.  I’ve purchased just one item for from the collection – the baked blush in Coral Burst, a very vivid orange.   I initially though it was matte, but it actually has a satin (low-shimmer) finish.

I haven’t tried a Maybelline blush in a while, and I remember being unimpressed, but this blush surprised me – the texture is quite nice, very smooth and even.  It’s very pigmented, and could easily be used an eyeshadow (and I’m sure would be even brighter over primer or a white base).  It’s also easy to apply a sheer layer, which is good, given how orange it is!

I applied this in the middle of the afternoon today, and it seems to be wearing fairly normally, not fading faster or slower than average.

Overall, this is a fantastic option if you’ve been looking for an orange blush at drugstore prices.  The color certainly isn’t for everyone (and I admit that I don’t see myself wearing it frequently), but the quality is definitely there.

Thus far, I’ve only purchased the Coral Burst blush – which is screamingly bright orange – and I’ll have that review up for you shortly!

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Review, Swatches, Photos

I’ve heard some good things about Maybelline’s new line of lipsticks, the Colorsensational Vivids, so I thought it was time to try them out for myself! I was especially intrigued by Brazen Berry, as it looks quite purple in the tube, and I was curious as to how it would swatch.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Packaging

First – the packaging. I am not a fan; the clear red tubes look okay, but they obscure the lipstick’s color, and they are not sealed, which makes it oh-so-tempting to just open them up and see what the lipstick actually looks like (which I did; I actually always open unsealed lipsticks to make sure they haven’t been tested).  But, I’d rather a clear top & a sealed lipstick!

Hot Plum, Brazen Berry

I purchased two shades – Hot Plum and Brazen Berry, as swatched above.  Both are smooth, creamy and feel moisturizing. They do seem to emphasize dry or flaky lips – when I first applied a swatch, it did not look good – I exfoliated, reapplied, and all was well.
