I was very excited to find out that I won Bloomin Beauty Blog‘s Spring Giveaway a couple weeks ago, and even more excited when the package arrived! My most anticipated item was the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Adored; I’ve wanted to try the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes since they came out, but haven’t bought a single one yet. I’ve also been wanting a pink blush, but hadn’t managed to pick one up yet. So, this was perfect!
The one thing that made me hesitate, however, was the level of sparkle in the blush – normally, I only wear matte blush, and just add highligher when I want to glow. When I first opened the compact, I was struck by the amount of sparkle – it looks like a lot. However, when I swatched the blush on my arm, I realized that the blush actually has a matte base with sparkle, rather than being a shimmery blush. The bits of sparkle don’t emphasize pores in the way that shimmer does, which is one of the main things I dislike about shimmery blush.

When swatched, this blush is really lovely – it’s a really true pink, with a great level of pigmentation. It’s pigmented enough to show up easily, and to be easily built up, but not so pigmented that it’s difficult to use. Another thing I like about it is that it doesn’t look chalky at all – instead, it’s sort of a sheer pink.
On my face, the color is really lovely – fresh and spring-like; just perfect. I’m able to buff away most of the sparkle, leaving a matte pink, though a few specks of sparkle remain, which doesn’t bother me. I wouldn’t wear this blush to a job interview, but it’s perfect for just about everything else. Here’s a photo with Tarte Adored on my face (my lipstick is Guerlain Nahema, which I reviewed previously).
Overall, I really love this blush, and I see more Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes in my future! Do you own any of the Tarte blushes?
