FOTD and NOTD: Recreating Finger Paints Twisted

I went out to dinner last week and dressed up for the occasion!

I was happy with how my eyes turned out; I used the Illamasqua Neutral Palette (gold shade on the lid, brown in the crease). My lips were my favorite part of the look; I used NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Vesuvio – but instead of applying normally, I applied/blotted three times, to give a softer, more stained look. The lipstick also lasted very well – it looked almost perfect at the end of the meal.

The blush I used was MAC’s Bite of an Apple; I love the color, but I think I used a too-heavy hand, as it looks more intense than I prefer in the photographs I took.

I also did fun nails earlier in the day.  I have been kicking myself for not buying Finger Paints Twisted (see Scrangie’s swatch here, scroll down to the last one) when I had the opportunity to.  But – then I realized that Twisted is a mix of red, yellow, green, and blue flakies.  I don’t have polish that has all of those, but I have Finger Paints Motley (blue and green flakies), and Nubar 2010 (red and yellow flakies). So, I applied one coat of each over black – to this result:

Rainbow Flakies!

I love how it turned out! It’s not exactly the same as Twisted, but it’s close enough for me.

This is a scheduled post as I’m currently in Las Vegas! I am reasonably sure that I’ll have internet to moderate and respond to comments, though I may be slower than usual.
