Dior Addict Fluid Stick

Dior has recently released a new product, the Dior Addict Fluid Sticks (is it just me or is that a really terrible name?).  They’re advertised having “the high-impact colour and long wear of a lipstick, combined with the shine of a gloss.”  Texturewise, they remind me of the Maybelline Color Elixirs (reviewed) and L’oreal Extraordinares (reviewed), which are both supposed to be gloss-balm-liquid lipstick hybrid. The packaging of the Fluid Sticks is somewhat reminiscent of the Maybellines as well; both have a lipstick-shaped cavity for the product, and if you weren’t paying attention, you might mistake the product for a traditional lipstick with a clear lid.

For an overview of the Fluid Stick formula, check out this post by Kate over at Drivel About Frivol.  As she says, the Fluid Sticks are comfortable to wear, flattering, and overall a lovely product.  However, I don’t find them to be unique or special enough to justify the price, personally – I’m happy with the drugstore versions. I don’t regret buying this one, but I don’t plan to buy more either.

Dior Addict Fluid Stick - 869 Vie D' Enfer

Dior Vie d'Enfer

Vie d’Enfer

I am having a difficult time describing the color of Vie d’Enfer. On the lip, I find it to be a brick(ish) red, but it seems to photograph as more of a cherry red.  How would you describe it? Any way you describe it, it’s a great color and I love it!

Dior Fluid Sticks are currently available in the US at Dior.com and Macy’s.com. I am guessing that they’ll eventually make it to other retailers as well.

  • In tube, this is a color that would never speak to me. On you, it’s just WOW! Well chosen, Emi!

  • Bellyhead

Halloooo emi! Vie d’Enfer looks very berry on you! Having tried it out a bit now, I think I will likely pass on buying anymore. I find that the shine fades very quickly on me and it does feel sort of thick/sticky on my lips. It doesn’t dry my lips out which is a really very nice thing since everything lately has been bothering my lips. And it doesn’t last very well on me. Oh well.

  • What a pretty shade on you! Very tempted by these 🙂

  • Lady_Tekki

Just got exactly this one couple of hours ago! 🙂 Started trying different tones yesterday, fell in love with texture-shine (for me they ARE unique – almost everything dries my lips, but these, on the contrary, hydrate), continued today.. That’s it, my color! For me and on me it is berry-red, neutral, almost cool-toned, juicy, but relaxed enough to wear during the day. First was looking at Wonderland (it sits soooo gorgeous on Kate DAF, but on myself I find it positively “screaming”, not used to this intensity), but Vie d’Enfer won my heart.

  • Jaa

That’s my first thought, too. These look very similar to Maybelline Color Elixirs, both in formula and packaging! I might still get one, though, to see what the fuss is all about. 😉
