FOTD: Party Look Featuring Two YSL Glossy Stains

Makeup used - excluding base items

Makeup used (excluding base items): Rock & Republic Bedroom blush, Rouge Bunny Rouge Solstice Halcyon eyeshadow, Burberry Trench eyeshadow, YSL Glossy Stains 1 & 4 (layered), Heroine Make Volume & Curl Mascara

In order to avoid the difficulty of scheduling a holiday party, my fiancee’s employer has a post-holiday party every year.  The party was last weekend, and here are some photos of the makeup I used and the final result.

Since I got ready at night, I had to take the photos with flash; I prefer natural light, but these came out surprisingly well, though I do look a bit, ah, dewier than I did in person!

The first photo in the post contains almost all of the makeup items I used; I’m also wearing MUFE HD foundation; NYX Taupe blush (to contour), and Anastasia Brow Powder Duo (which I just forgot to photograph).  I might be wearing concealer, but I don’t remember.

Most of my makeup is pretty self-explanatory, so I won’t go into detail.  For the lips, I used YSL Glossy Stain 1 (Violet Edition) as a stain – a single layer – then went over it with Glossy Stain 4 (Mauve Pigmente) to add shine. I really like the final result; it’s not quite as deep in color as wearing 1 Violet Edition all by itself.

FOTD with Wet n Wild & OPI Bond Goldeneye NOTD

I realized I haven’t posted a FOTD for a while, so today I took pictures of my makeup look.  The top photo has the lipstick (WnW Black Orchid) at full strength; after taking some photos I decided to blot it down, and that’s how I wore it out.

Here’s the breakdown:

Face:

Armani Maestro Foundation (review)
Guerlain Meteorities Compact Powder in Teint Beige (review)
Inglot 363 eyeshadow (swatch) – to contour
MAC The Perfect Cheek blush (review)

Wet n Wild Drinking A Glass of Shine – medium brown under lashline (review)
Burberry Trench (review) – to blend & on browbone
Prestige Total Intensity pencil (swatch) – upper lashline
Armani ETK Mascara (review)

I also wanted to share a picture of Goldeneye from OPI’s new James Bond themed collection, Skyfall. It is so gorgeous! It’s a clear base absolutely packed with tiny gold flakies – so many that it’s opaque in 2-3 coats.  I wore it when I went out of town last weekend and didn’t manage to get a picture, so I swatched it today to show you.  I swatched it over Wet n Wild MegaLast polish in Deadly Dose (a gold) so that I could get away with two coats of Goldeneye and not have any nail showing through.

FOTD: Featuring Armani ETK #24

different lighting conditions – left is more accurate

I went out to dinner last nice, and decided to do a blackened gold smoky eye. I find that a gradient – darker on the lid, fading lighter as it goes up – looks better on my hooded lids that using a lighter color on the lid and darker color in the crease, so a gradient is what I did!  It’s a little more dramatic than the makeup I usually wear, but I love how it turned out!

Here’s the breakdown:

Face:

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation (review) – chin area only
Guerlain Meteorities Compact Powder in Teint Beige (review)
MAC Sculpting powder in Sculpt (review) – to contour
MAC Blushbaby blush (review) – my favorite neutral blush to pair with a dramatic eye!

Eyes & Brows:

Armani Eyes to Kill Intense eyeshadow in #24 Smokey Copper (review) – lid, under first 1/3 of lowever lashline
Illamasqua Neutral Palette (review) – gold shade in crease, under lower lashline
Burberry Trench (review) – to blend & on browbone
Milani Color Play eyeliner in Black Line (upper lashline)
MAC Chromagraphic pencil in NC15 / NW20 (waterline)
Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara (review)
Anastasia Brow Powder duo in Brunette (review)

Lips:

Chanel Troublant Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss (review)

FOTD and NOTD: In Las Vegas

evening look

Here are some photos I took while in Vegas – I tried to take more, but the lighting in the hotel room just was not ideal! I had a lot of fun with makeup while I was there; lots of time to play around, and in Vegas, anything goes :) At night, I mostly did either bold lips and false lashes or smoky eyes and nude lips – though above I have glittery eyes, false lashes, and no lipstick. During the day, I did more typical makeup for me – a wash of neutral shadow, mascara, and a sheer lipstick.

daytime look

I also had fun with my nails. Before I left, I layered Milani 3D Holographic nail polish in HD, a silver scattered holo, over Zoya Trixie, a silver foil.  It lasted really well, but when it finally started chipping, I replaced it with Sally Hansen nail strips (great for travel! – I didn’t want to bring any nail polish bottles with me).
